Password and UUID Generation API

Generate random passwords with strength presets or custom rules, and create random UUID v4 or deterministic UUID v5 identifiers.

Free tier available. Both endpoints require a JWT Bearer Token.

Key features

Secure randomness

Password generation uses SecureRandom and offers four strength presets.

Custom composition

Configure length, letters, numbers, special characters and exclusions.

UUID v4 and v5

Generate up to 100 random v4 identifiers or one deterministic v5 identifier.

Generate a random password

Choose a strength preset or manual composition rules. When strength is supplied, manual settings are ignored.

Endpoint

POST /api/v1/tools/password

Request and response: application/json

STRONG preset request

{
  "strength": "STRONG",
  "excludedSpecials": ".@|!"
}

Example response (generated value varies)

{
  "password": "A6d!bXy3@qP9"
}

Manual configuration example

{
  "length": 12,
  "includeLetters": true,
  "includeNumbers": false,
  "includeSpecials": true,
  "excludedSpecials": "!@#"
}

Preset generation guarantees at least one character in each required category. excludedSpecials removes selected special characters from the available pool.

Generate UUID v4 or v5

This GET endpoint uses query parameters. Defaults: version=v4 and count=1. v4 supports 1–100 identifiers; v5 requires namespace and name and exactly one result.

Endpoint

GET /api/v1/tools/uuid

Accept: application/json

UUID v4 request example

GET /api/v1/tools/uuid?version=v4&count=3

{
  "uuid": [
    "416f3eed-71df-4bed-8607-8ef09557e087",
    "2511a22a-641a-44e0-b287-6e8e1b0321b5",
    "33d61268-62aa-4be7-bfa9-fb5d1f241ad0"
  ]
}

UUID v5 request example

GET /api/v1/tools/uuid?version=v5&namespace=6ba7b810-9dad-11d1-80b4-00c04fd430c8&name=john.doe%40example.com

{
  "uuid": ["1fcae1fc-9f3a-52a8-93ae-c455fb50bce0"]
}

UUID v5 is deterministic: the same namespace and name produce the same UUID. UUID v4 generates random identifiers.

Password presets and UUID parameters

Password strength presets
Preset Length Composition
WEAK 8–10 Letters: at least one uppercase and one lowercase
MEDIUM 12–16 Letters and digits: at least one uppercase, lowercase and digit
STRONG 16–20 Letters, digits and special characters: at least one of each
ULTRA 20–24 Letters, digits and special characters, with higher entropy than STRONG

Manual password configuration

Without strength, defaults are length=12 and includeLetters, includeNumbers and includeSpecials=true. excludedSpecials can remove specific special characters.

UUID query parameters

Supported UUID query parameters
Parameter Behavior
version v4 (default) or v5
count Default 1; 1–100 for v4, exactly 1 for v5
namespace Required for v5; UUID namespace
name Required for v5; name within the namespace

Use cases

  • Generate account passwords and temporary credentials.
  • Create identifiers for resources, records and test fixtures.
  • Reproduce the same identifier from a namespace and name with UUID v5.

Generation is not password storage

The API returns a plaintext password; it does not store or hash it. Protect the generated value and use the dedicated Password Hashing API for secure password verification storage.
