PowerPoint to PDF API

Convert Microsoft PowerPoint presentations into PDF files using a REST API.

Convert modern PPTX and legacy PPT presentations using LibreOffice, through a persistent conversion engine.

Key features

PPTX and PPT support

Convert modern PowerPoint presentations and legacy PPT files into PDF documents.

LibreOffice conversion engine

Use a persistent LibreOffice engine to render presentation slides into PDF pages.

Supported PowerPoint formats

PPTX

Modern Microsoft PowerPoint presentations based on the Office Open XML format.

PPT

Legacy Microsoft PowerPoint presentations supported through LibreOffice conversion.

Presentation rendering

The API uses LibreOffice to render presentation slides into PDF pages, preserving the slide content and layout as closely as possible.

Presentation content

Standard presentation elements such as text, images, shapes, tables and charts can be rendered into the resulting PDF.

Slide layout

Slide dimensions and orientation are retained during conversion, without forcing a standard paper size such as A4.

License and evaluation

The API is available to Free users for evaluation. Generated PDFs include a permanently embedded evaluation watermark on every page. A Basic license or higher is required to generate PDFs without this watermark.

Use cases

  • Convert business presentations into PDF documents.
  • Share presentations in a widely supported, read-only document format.
  • Archive presentation content in PDF format.

Quick start

Upload a PPTX or PPT presentation using multipart/form-data and authenticate using a JWT Bearer Token.

HTTP method

POST /api/v1/convert/file/ppt-to-pdf

Request parameters

file
Required multipart file (.pptx or .ppt).
Authorization
JWT Bearer Token in the Authorization header.

Successful response

The API returns HTTP 200 with an application/pdf response containing the generated presentation.

Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="document.pdf"

Response headers identify the rendering engine, its version and the processing time.

Important considerations

  • Missing fonts may be substituted and can affect text positioning or slide layout.
  • Animations and slide transitions are not preserved as interactive effects in PDF files.
  • Audio and video content cannot be reproduced as interactive media in a standard PDF.
  • Verify the output when presentations contain complex layouts, charts or embedded objects.
  • File processing and request limits apply.
